Has any PS4 owner ever had their PS4s data lost, damaged,or corrupted from improperly turning it off?

The power went out when my PS4 in rest mode and I got the warning but in all times it has been turned off improperly nothing has ever happened

[c=#7700B2]you keep turning it off like that and eventually it will not work anymore.. I only recently had to replace a ps4 for accidently locking it in safe mode when turning on also.. so be careful how you turn it on also[/c]

@PlumBerries I never do it intentionally. But sometimes the power goes out, or someone who doesn’t know how to use it turns it off, the cat steps on the switch on the surge protector or something.

[c=#7700B2]I would try putting it somewhere that that wont happen so much.. damn things are so expensive and its a pain in the butt if you have to replace it [/c]

If you don't shut hard drives down properly there is a risk of corruption. Inside every hard drive are a number of mechanical parts. The disks can crash into each other.... It's whether you were prepared to replace the hard drive when this happens. My friend's son had this happen on his PS3. I replaced it with an SSD
@Terrance how in the world would the platters crash into each other? I can see the arm not getting properly parked, but the platters will not crash into each other. If power is lost in the middle of an install you will still have data corruption on a ssd drive.

@AcidBurn That's what I was taught at college...

I never said an SSD was resistant. I just said that's what I installed

I had it happen with my PS3 during a power outage once. Since then I've bought myself a little battery backup (UPS or uninteruptable power supply) So my PS3 plugs into that and it protects it from outages surges and spikes etc.

No, but it does warn you not to unplug the console if it is in sleep mode

Yeah, but but the idea is that it shouldn't lose power if it's in sleep mode otherwise damage could occur. Did it start working again?

Yea it did it check and started again.

👍 I think data loss would be the biggest concern when that happens

I know that some updates for games can cause this but not power outages. A friend on mine lost his ps4 data when he updated Rainbow Six awhile ago.
never. I'm thinking you'd only run into problems if it loses power while it's installing an update.

Not PS4 but some years ago on ps2
