If i remove my sim card and put it into an old unlocked phone, will the old phone work instantly?

Or will there be a delay?
Needing to send my brand new phone in for replacement. Trying to avoid paying for a temporary phone provided by the manufacturer....

So if i just transfer the sim, does everything transfer immediately?

Sometimes. Sometimes the chip is proprietary, and will only work in the same BRAND of phone.
In general, yes, the chip should work in any unlocked phone.

I would try it before you send your phone in for repair

Note the cards are made in a few different sizes but you may be able to obtain an adaptor, like a miniature picture-frame, to hold a smaller card in a phone designed for larger.

I would take the case off. Having sent phones in for repair before, I was told to take out the sim and send it in with no case @iamnikki
