A huge clunky portable radio, not a transistor, but a couple of years before transistor radios. It had huge batteries in it, but it was portable; you could take it to the beach with you and sit on your beach blanket and listen to it while people walking by stopped to ask you about it. It came to me in a miraculous and amazing way from an uncle who gave it to me. I treasured it for a long time, even after transistor radios, mostly manufactured in Japan, took the world by storm a few years later.

I had a “laptop” that helped teach you how to read. All I really remember is that it would say “Hello! How are you? Choose an activity” and it took 4 AA batteries which were like gold in my house.
