I'm sure it is possible to disable automatic updates
my windows 10 used to be laggy but now it's good enough. I suggest you to use an SSD for laptop.

I couldn't download the other major update as it kept failing as my speed was too slow.
Eventually I had to take it to a dealer for him to do!
