Why do people continue to buy contact stun guns, despite them being the most ineffectual nonlethal weapons of all time?

you can use them on electric parking meters I have heard although I have never done it in my life -

@MarmeeMarch Sure, you haven't.

I dunno. I thought those things zapped people.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@goagainsttheflow They do, but zapping someone and stopping them from killing/raping you are unfortunately two separate things. Contact stun guns, unlike shooting tasers, are entirely incapable of disabling an assailant's muscle control, and only work, if ever, by deterring an attacker via pain. Even then, they take a few seconds to cause severe pain, require you to actually touch the attacker (which is awful for a lot of reasons), and immediately stop working once contact is broken.

In other words, they're total trash.

And here I thought I was the only person who was invulnerable to them.

watching them spasm is like a sport nowadays
BlueVeins · 22-25
@SW-User If you want to watch them spasm, buy a shooting taser. They're the only type that can even disable muscle control. Preferably an X2 because tasers only work about 60% of the time.

Good marketing mostly

Well....

I mean people do whatever they can to defend themselves. I guess everyone should carry a gun then
Chickie · F
@BlueVeins Why you so pressed about what weaponry people chose anyway? Just curious. Is this your passion?
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Chickie It's a little bit of an interest of mine, and I... tend to despair in the sheer amount of violence and suffering in the world. And I think, maybe there wouldn't be so much if we knew how to defend ourselves from it properly. That's all.

@BlueVeins preparing the would be victims and discouraging the would be attackers — can’t say I disagree with you.
