@Graciebaby If you are moving at 5kph, and you are holding a ball, and you throw it straight up in the air in front of you, you'll see that it will fall back in front of you even though you kept walking. The same is true for jumping up and down on the Earth. Since you start at the same rotational speed as the planet (Therefore with a relative speed of 0), you will maintain that rotational momentum and your speed will only change vertically, remaining at 0 horizontally relative to the Earth.

@Graciebaby You can make anything that really exists with CGI, as well as things that don't. That's a totally irrelevant point.

When the underground train starts to move, it's velocity relative to the Earth changes, but since it takes energy to change velocity, your body will resist that change and try to maintain it's current velocity. As the friction between you and the train exerts a force on you and transfers energy to you, you speed up, and then when the train stops accelerating and you've reached the same speed as the train, it feels as though you're standing still again. Oh, and you'll notice that if you jump on that train, despite it going at high speeds relative to the Earth, you don't get catapulted to the back of the carriage.

Not unless you jump in the air.
