I integrated my Catholic school in the 60s. One day someone called in a death threat and for my safety the police came and took me away. A couple of the kids yelled that I was “going to jail”. I believed it, and was crying in the car. One of the policeman thought that was hilarious. The other one, who was younger, had him stop the car and got into the back with me. He told me that I hadn’t done anything wrong and that I wasn’t going to jail, that they were just taking me home to my parents.
The hardest thing was my parents, not wanting to frighten me, didn’t immediately tell me why I’d had to be taken home that day, so I imagined all kinds of dire things.

@bijouxbroussard awww that is scary!!! Was it a racial death threat and that’s why only you had to be sent home?

@DecafD Yes.
@bijouxbroussard people make me so upset. Well if that person’s still alive I hope they remember what they did and look back to realize how embarrassing and shameful their behavior was- to a little kid no less. And if they grew old still being stuck in their way, then you and I can just wave at them in hell from our sweet spots in heaven.

the road outside town is a narrow road
coming back from university
I was driving home and the road was busy and fast
we kept the speed up ..all trying to go home/get somewhere
one lane traffic this way one lane that way
and someone overtook illegally and was coming head on for me
...just popping out
and I did not take my foot off the gas peddle
I just calmly manoeuvred to the very edge of the tar to the left
we drive on the left side
luckily I drove that car for years and I knew where the wheels touched the tar
(going off the tar meant you'd roll , it wasn't an option, stepping on the brake wasn't an option, we were in a chain, you consider everything in an instant )
I held it there and did not look again at oncoming car
and we drove past each other 3 car s in 2 narrow lanes and great speed

I cut myself while on a lot of drugs, and my blood did this when it landed.
