Is it really possible to track someone's IP address here via a private message?

@SW-User How would I access that information though? As far as I can tell, the only one who sees the IP information is SW. It's not like I have a connection to other users on here.

@Peppa virtual private network. It bounces your signal across many IP addresses. So people can't track you

@DDonde it's not too difficult. You can actually Google it. Actual hackers are better, and have far more means for this. Bypassing all sorts of security and such to get to all of your good information

@SW-User Either way you'd probably find out the IP of the user who sent the PM indirectly, not from the PM itself. There's nothing special about PMs that would reveal someone's IP address any more than a regular post.

@DDonde Oh, yes. That is correct. Maybe i misread 😅

@DDonde It's kind of an assumption people make on the basis that you can access IPs in private chats, on some websites, via netstat -n and wireshark but here they are random proxy nodes and that wouldn't work. I don't think anyone would be interested in investing time and energy, meaning days or perhaps even months, to hack this place just to obtain dynamic addresses. It's lot of work for no gains.

@Peppa I use boleh, and it seems to work quite well for me. I don't know if it's the cheapest though.
