Soulforged
The Soulforged are a race of inorganic sentient beings which are led by a mysterious caste known as the Druids. Hailing from the Western Islands, the people who would create the Soulforged had for generations resisted the empire's attempts to conquer them, instead allowing them access only to a few port cities. However, when the Flesh-eater Plague swept through the empire and reached the Western Islands decades ago, more and more Soulforged were created, binding the souls of the deceased within their carapace to allow them to live once more. Now the Soulforged live in the cities once inhabited by their creators, bound to those few mortals who survive around them as druids.
