I Wtk Why the Intolerance of Christianity

It's because christianity is an intolerant religion. It's spread through fear.

@windinhishair I suspect that you are the intolerant one because you obviously don't know a thing about Christianity. It is not spread by fear it is spread by love. The kind of love that is willing to take criticism when it tells people you are about to harm yourself or your society with your silly ways.

@hippyjoe1955 Who gets to define "silly ways"? What gives you or any other christian the right to tell us what to do? That's called intolerance!

@Moonpenny I forget exactly how the law words it but the compulsory religious assemblies have to be predominately christian.

It doesn't really matter whether it's legal for a school to attempt to block a parent's right to withdraw their child(ren) from RE and assembly if the parents are unaware they have that absolute right. It's quite common practice for those perceived to be "in authority" to attempt to impose their will on the "plebs". As I said, parents have been told that right only applies to practising members of recognized religions. If parents don't know that's just BS they can easily be denied their rights.

You say the guidelines were quite clear. Be that as it may, they are still just guidelines. Schools don't even obey the law when it doesn't suit them (the headmaster of my children's school actually told me he didn't care what the law said, he made the rules in his school), they're not likely to follow mere guidelines that they don't like.

@suzie1960
Some schools try to deny it even exists while some others claim it only applies to practising members of other "recognized" religions.
That's what I was told when I told the school I was withdrawing my children from RE and assembly. Other parents were told the same thing. Luckily some of us knew our legal rights, much to the chagrin of the christian headmaster.
