@TheCoolestCat: i don't care what color Rowland is, but there's so few characters, why cut Eddie especially? He is indespensible. King signed off on this???

one exception is "The Shipping News".....is on my top 10 favorite novels and i have to say it's the most authentic and sincere adaptation to a movie that i have ever seen, due to the perfect casting, i believe. But yes 99.9% of the time the movie is terrible and not at all faithful to the book.

The joy of a book is that it translates in your head as you read it.
The problem with adaptations is you get the adaptor's view and the directors view of the adaptor's view....!

Often very unsatisfying.
