People break promises, even though they meant every word of it at the time. Sometimes things change, and they no longer want to or can keep that promise. Never think worse of them for this, because nothing is for certain.

Very true, never make or believe a promise.

@Kuronekko: I think people should only promise to try. But promises that contain words such as "always" or "never" - I try not to put much stock into them.
