When you were growing up, who you wanted to be? and at present are you inline with those dreams ?

4thdimensiondream · 61-69, M
I don’t think I ever had a legit goal as a kid. I remember telling a guidance counselor I loved baseball but I think I was 90 lbs at the time! I think in college was first time I thought about a true goal. But that never came to fruition. But now at 65 looking back, I did better than I thought I would!
never wanted to be like anyone. Just happy to be myself. I pushed myself to be better and i have a happy life

I wanted to become a ‘Shepherd’, also a ‘Spy’, couldn’t decide so I thought I’d combine them, so I became a ‘Shepherds Pie’

My paternal grandmother wanted me to be a priest. My mother and maternal grandmother wanted me to be career military. My father and maternal grandfather wanted me to go into something technical— which I did.

I wanted to be a doctor. My entire family discouraged me. Said I wasn’t kind and compassionate enough.

So not in line with my dreams at all.

@Tsondru Not too late, be a doctor.

@Tsondru My personal feeling is that we should pursue what we want to be. It's our life and we need to be in control of it. Whoever it is can always provide us with their valuable guidance based on their experience however letting them to control our life is not a smart approach.

@Carazaa That's a very motivating suggestion. If you regret the path you are following, then there are always options available to pursue one's dreams.

@Allabouttaboo But there is a long way to go. You can always keep trying. Its not about the destination, instead it's all about the journey!
