inbetween - we like to think we are rational, but the reality is we driven by irrational feelings. Notwithstanding that, society as a whole is largely rational.

We're still in the process of evolving. As was stated elsewhere, we like to think we're rational and "oh so intelligent" because we can operate a computer (or walk into a fountain while on a phone), but we're just muddling through.
