I Have Family Members That Get On My Nerves

I think everyone who has a family, has at least one member of that family that gets on their nerves. lol
However, my rant is Mother's Day. I raised my children as a single mother. I was poor, but my kids always got gifts on their birthdays and christmas, Easter things ect. regardless. They're adults, I still help them out when I can, although I'm on a fixed income. I've given them a safe place to stay, if they run into issues. I've traveled miles to rescue them, watched their kids so they could work, given them groceries when they were in a bind. Now, I can't even get a damn card from either of them or take Mom out to dinner. What I get from my daughter is that she's broke and my Mothers Day gift will be late. Funny, heard the same thing for my Birthday in April! How the fk much is a damn card? Oh but ya can buy snakes, ferrets, rats etc...afford to feed them & guess I'm just not important. My son's excuse is, I know ya not much on holidays. Hmph...shake my head. I wonder why? Because I'm always the giver, still always sacrificing & never getting the minimal show of, hey Mom, thanks and we love you. What can WE do for you, for a change? Remember this...the more a person feels appreciated, the more they'll be inclined to do for you. But if you can't show basic appreciation then why should I keep going out of my way??

I can relate to this..my daughter is pretty good but my sons suck. I won’t ever say anything to them. I believe when they are out on their own maybe they will realize it then. I don’t know. They are old enough to know better.

@Wolfdancer awwww, Same to you!! I hope it’s a relaxing Mother’s Day for you!

@Keepitsimple My Partner is taking me shopping for a nice floral hanging basket and dinner with her and her family. I am still going to have a good day, just not the kind of day I would really like to have with my own children.

@Wolfdancer I understand :( At least you will be with people who care about you though.

She just posted she's buying a bike!! WTF Wow! I even sent both of them this link for a Mother's Day contest where you just send them a picture of you with your mother to win concert tickets for James Taylor...costs them nothing, just 30 seconds of their time to send in a damn photo. Think they can do that? Hahahaha!

I would sit them all down and tell them how they make you feel

@Fernie Haha! Thats funny.

@Wolfdancer It will sink in at some point. It's healing. You'll be able to let go of some of your angst and hurt feelings if you say what you said here...they certainly won't crumble at your feet in shame promising to cherish you every minute of the day from here on in...but you'll at least bring it to their attention.

Maybe you should use the same lines on them.

@megrose Apparently you're not a Mother. That isn't how I operate. What kind of Mother would I be if I didn't acknowledge their birthdays & such? A shitty one. Not that I haven't thought that, but tit for tat isn't my MO.

Wow wolfdancer. That is harsh ! Clearly you don't know me. Not a mother. Wow. There are kids who aren't mine who love me and say I'm a mom to them . I wasn't trying to be mean to you. Just suggesting you let them understand how it feels. I know it wpuld be hard to do. Tough love is very hard and I myself dont do it well at all. My gosh I can't believe you took that as me being a bitch. To each her own. Hope things get better for you.
