I Have Family Members That Get On My Nerves

So, due to the fact that I work so much, I don't have time to do my homework. Or when I do, I'm too tired to get it done. So I asked if I could drive myself to church and then come home early to work on it, and my dad said "No." and said that I had all week to do it and that I should've done it earlier. I'll admit, I should have worked on it a little more, but either way, I needed the extra time to get it done. Then my dad started saying how "God needed to come first." And things like that. Then he said that if I didn't get my project done, he'd force me to quit my job, which I said he can't do because I am an adult, then he said "there are other ways to do that." When I asked how he responded "Well, you would get kicked out." And when I started sobbing he told me to quit it. My mom made him backpedal and he said he was simply "making a point." And that "he wouldn't really do that." But it just pisses me off. Why say it and make me all upset?

Your dad values church but you have other things in your life as well. He should be happy that you are working, that is a valuable skill that will carry you through life.
@lasergraph I agree. I value church, too. But sometimes I need to let other things take priority.

Your dad had good intentions but went a bit overboard. Some dads are like that. He seems to have a sincere desire to make sure you set your priorities better. Maybe meet him half way the next time to avoid conflict and hurt feelings.

I am sorry to hear you are upset. I can see how that would make you that way. It sounds like your dad MAYBE trying to make a point but not doing a very good job of it.
