I Love Interracial Dating

I say this because maybe someone else can possibly get something interesting out of this story. As an Black Female, I love Black Men to death and always will, I don't try to rationalize that and see no need to. However, that being said, I want to love, respect and value the person who does the same for me. If it just so happens that someone who is a different ethnicity than me wants to spend quality time with me and treat me with the dignity and respect that I know that I'm deserving of, then so be it. The best thing that we as African American Women can do to better our prospects for love and romance in our lives is to start making ourselves our first priority..I have found that that is the key to a healthy self image. For far too long, Black Women have been in subtle ways, been told to 'stay in our place', don't rock the boat or else he'll walk away.

When I'm with a Man, I'm with him because I like him not because I want him to like me. It's about time that we stop blaming others or Black Men because of our own lack of good old fashioned common sense and sound judgement. We're also coerced to make others a priority in our lives who have never made us a priority at all, in the process we lose our identity and autonomy. I for one refuse to succumb to Emotional Terrorism when someone else decides that I should be grateful for the "crumbs" they think I deserve. When I know that I want Filet Mignon, why do I need to settle for Spam?! I myself will decide where my place ought to be especially since I earned it. As far as a Gentleman is concerned, he's a bonus, never the be all end all in a Woman's life. I really believe that especially Black Women can be themselves and happy in their own lives despite what the Media, magazines, relationship forums, and Social Media markets tell them. If others don't like or appreciate what I'm talking about, don't respond because it's not for You...A Woman should be a whole and complete person by herself before she involves herself with someone else and also understand that if you want a great partner, you have to be a great partner. I would say this to any African American Woman who wants to date whatever kind of Man whether he is White or Hispanic or whomever. We are Magic, but still real at the same time!

Thank you for stating it this bluntly. I have had very limited exposure to African American women (or men) in my life... which makes them (YOU) both unfamiliar and exotic at the same time. In principle I wish to make no distinction between those who are more familiar than those who are not, but in practice it *does* add an extra "something" to the situation.

I know a lot more Native Americans than I do African Americans... and even more Hispanic/Latin/??? Americans... There too there are both cultural and ethnic differences... I'm just hugely more familiar with the latter two groups.

This was very well written. More importantly, it expressed the truth that You are independent and worthy of attention as a person in Your own right.
