How far do you travel to your job?

My journey is around 90 minutes. It used to be only an hour but I had to move further out.
The money I would save by not having to pay train fares is not enough to make up for the extra rent it would cost if I moved closer. It's very frustrating! My absolute dream would be to be within walking distance of a job.

Less than 10 minutes each way. However, I have a new job that begins in a few weeks and and the commute will increase to probably 25 minutes each way.

@SW-User same weather here today...only after getting a dumping of snow overnight...and they are calling for a few more cm overnight tonight. I can't wait for spring!

It's 65 minutes if the train and bus times coincide well. More like 70 minutes if I get the train and walk. But coming home, the trains are so full, there's sometimes no room for any more people, and the longest journey home was just over four hours.

@annamk Not actually that far on paper. Into Manchester city centre from just outside the ring road. About eight or nine miles.

My old commute was between 40 minutes and an hour depending on traffic. I sympathize with your situation, the hour was about what I could stand. At least you have trains to ride, my commute was entirely by car, which added more stress.

This brings up ano5her question: how much time can you spend commuting before you have to consider moving? For me an hour was the outer limit. I realize that there are multiple conflicting motivations at play. Here.

Never been able to walk to work mostly 40+ mile commute throughout my career such a waste of time possibly. Driving I listened to music. On train I read a lot.

@monimathu Nothing out of the ordinary really. Just packed trains, having to stand, being squashed on next to people, that sort of thing. It's horrible in the summer and I have felt ill/faint a couple of times.
