Is it wrong to go to the head manager about your area manager if he's really a bit of a bully??

And i haven't thrown the toys out the pram at one thing..I have gave him chance after chance..I have been patient..my work never seems worth it..no matter how well I do
If they are problems that he is not addressing and you have spoken with him about them, than yes. go have a talk with someone else.
@All2livefor Bosses sure can be fun, especially in retail. And from what you have stated, sounds as though your boss doesn't like you or is likely completely incompetent and needs to make it look like hes on top of things by finding imaginary problems.
You could go to his boss, or another manager in the store and explain the situation and see if they have advice for you in how to deal with this particular person.

@TwiddlerofThumbs and one more..he came by me saying..to stop congestion..you should only have to cages on the floor..back stock cage and a cage I'm working from..I told him..I've only got two...he pointed at one and asked what's that then??..I said "my back stock cage"..he pointed at one up the other end..and asked what's that up there..and I said..that doesn't belong to me that's John's cage from the section across from me..and he said "okaay in a quiet tone and walked away...but didn't pull up john who is older and there longer than him..even though he had five cages on the floor which is against the rules..picked on me..doing everything right xx
@All2livefor Also, if you have not you need to ask him what he feels you should be doing to improve your customer service skills. In fact, when he corrects you in any way ask him to explain himself, what he expects and what you are doing differently than what he expects. Now, it wont be reasonable in every situation, but don;t let him intimidate you. That is likely his goal. Hes going to manage you out of a job is he can. Which is often just bullying and intimating an employee that wont stand up to them in a reasonable manner and confront them when they make accusations about your work.

And yes, it's because he was looking to pick on you - not John, who knows the rules and does his job in whatever manner it takes to get it done.

In the Uk that probably wouldn’t work and you would be hated by all co-workers (even more than the manager) for making a fuss.

@Sadwithasmile the co-workers agree with me..some recommended that I do this

@All2livefor if they recommend then they better stand with you. Many would just say it so you jump and they can entertain themselves by seeing you fall.

Have a plan B if it blows up in your face.
