What's the worst job you've ever had?

Any noteworthy stories?

Perfume model ... which meant I handled out samples no one wanted and tried to spray innocent shoppers.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@SW-User Oh God that's awful. I mean, perfume isn't htat bad but the idea you have to accost people who don't want it is just horrible and anxiety-provoking and all that bad stuff.

My one and only current job is hell at times. I love my coworkers though. People know I don’t care about my job either so fire me if you wanna, PLEASE!
ImRileyTheDog · 22-25, F
@CountScrofula I mean I still a kid and it’s a stupid job for money, it’s not my profession or career. Therefore it’s alright if they fired me, even though they won’t they, need me. Something in the army will become my profession.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@ImRileyTheDog Why the army may I ask? You've mentioned it several times.
ImRileyTheDog · 22-25, F
@CountScrofula Yes I just passed the test and off to the MEPS station this Wednesday. I just always wanted to join the army. I’m also not the smartest person in the world so I don’t think I would get into schools I wanted on my own with my grades and GPA. The army allows me to go to almost any school I want as well as pay for it all, 100% tuition.

[c=#7700B2]blockbuster video.. was just expected to serve customers and not give your opinion on the movies they were renting despite them asking.. I got fired because I couldn't keep my opinion to myself many many times lol[/c]
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]yeah I hated it. I wanted the job because I thought it was a way to be able to socialise more with people and the topic of movies was a easy topic for me.. but nope, not allowed..

funny though I worked as a waitress shortly and was groped and so on every so often by dudes and working at blockbuster was still worse[/c]
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@PlumBerries God that's a ringing endorsement. "I'd rather be sexually harassed than work at this shithole."
PlumBerries · 31-35, F
[c=#7700B2]haha yeah when you say it like that, it is really bad[/c]

Envelope stuffer was probably the worst one.
Mona86 · C
What’s wrong with being a cleaner there are benefits in it, and all you do is clean dishes n tables, and there’s upscale in the avenue @Myzery
Myzery · 41-45, F
@Mona86 I never said there was anything wrong with it. I just imagine it would be unpleasant. Personally, I don't do well with smells and cleaning a porta John that has sat on the Florida heat for days is not something that I think I am capable of. Mad respect to anyone who does.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Myzery I did one day of envelope stuffing. No more. Tedious and shitty.

@waleskinder Well you get outdoors... get some "fresh" air...

Every job I had brought me to where I am, so I didn’t have a worst job, cause I had goals, but don’t know if I accomplished them.

Legally of course...
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
I worked for a boss that was an utter bitch. The work itself wasn't bad at all though.
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@LadyBronte Bad boss can make a good job a bad job a lot of the time. :\
LadyBronte · 56-60, F
Indeed.

CountScrofula · 41-45, M

JRVanguard · 26-30, M

Candy153 · 41-45, F
Social worker at school...
Candy153 · 41-45, F
@CountScrofula not at all. It was boring and noone including myself knew what I had to do...
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
@Candy153 :\ Clueless school administrators seem to be a universal theme everywhere.
Candy153 · 41-45, F
I think so... And social work and school have not much in common. Lol

The best job, just the worst school management. Long story short, police involement; court injunctions against governors and it's still ongoing.
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
I worked in a telemarketing firm for 8 years, I think I have PTSD from working there..
GardenSage · 36-40, M
I was an organist and pianist for a Southern Baptist Church the summer before I went away to college. I was Catholic and took the job with the understanding that I had no desire to convert, but it didn’t stop the parishioners from trying to engage me in theological debates.

The fortyish married pastor was “handsy” and made suggestive comments, which made being there after choir practice problematic. So I told my mother, and she made it a point to be there during weekly practices sitting in the pew, arms folded, waiting to take me home. And on Sundays the pastor’s wife was in attendance.
