Is it illegal to text an employee after work hours?

I can’t imagine my manager texting me that late but I don’t think it’s illegal unless it’s harassment or something like that.

If you're an hourly employee they are required to pay you for that time.

Put phone on silent or turn it off. Check your company policy.

If you are non-exempt, then they can not text you after you clocked out. Or they'll have to pay you. Especially on your own cell phone.

I know it's not illegal in Illinois and I'm pretty sure it's not illegal anywhere. If it's causing a problem you may need to talk to your employer about boundaries or your boyfriend about being less sensitive. they're texts right?
