What is traveling by Greyhound Bus like? What should I expect?

I am planning a trip from North Carolina to Louisville,Kentucky. There are layovers and transfers in Charlotte, Atlanta and Nashville. My cousin saidnshe might end up meeting me in Nashville and driving me into Louisville. What should i expect travelling Greyhound?

Ive travelled by greyhound. Many, many years ago. It isnt undoable, but not my favorite. That is an awfully long haul by bus for a not so long distance by car.
Is there a train available?

@Carla Exactly my thoughts, I have never seen an itinerary where the route travels you away from your destinatiin before heading that way, and I have taken 32 cross country trips by Greyhound from 1988 to 2014, very odd.

@NativeOregonian i get charlotte and maybe nashville. But atlanta?

@Carla Exactly, going straight south, the opposite direction away from his destination.

Be careful of trees, as greyhounds like to make their territory

@sludgefeastII I have too many of her kind in my own family, my oldest brother is the worst, they cannot be reasoned with. It's like playing chess with a pigeon, they knock down all the pieces, shit on the board, then strut around clucking like they won :/

Don't do it. Find any other way you can go. Have you seen the people that ride on Greyhound lately?

@Smahala1991 It's actually a fun experience, you get to see America, meet new people, a chance to have cool convos. Enjoy yourself.

@NativeOregonian i found another route. From Hickory Nc to Knoxville then Knoxville to Lexington ky

@Smahala1991 If one looks long enough they can find alternate routes.

Why are you going south first instead of east, then north?
Smahala1991 · 31-35, M
@NativeOregonian thats the route

@Smahala1991 I am a veteran of 32 cross country Greyhound trips, from 1988 to 2014, that is by far the strangest route I have ever heard. I have never taken a trip that takes me further from my destination before starting that direction, nor have heard of one. Your itinerary is the first I have ever seen it. 😳

Megabus is apparently better.

It is not so bad really. I took one a long while ago and aside from sitting next to a stranger it was fine. Just keep your stuff close to you.
