Any hints to improve my running pace i juat seem to be getting slower

Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
Here's the workout that took two minutes off my best 5K time. Once a week, instead of jogging, say, four miles at an even pace, instead jog 3/4 mile a little slower than usual and then sprint all out for 1/4 mile. Do this for each of the four miles.

We do get slower as we age. Also weather and weight can be factors. How much are you running? You may need to slow down all of your runs except one time per week do some faster intervals. Most people run their slow runs too quickly which wears them out for the fast days which are the days that hare supposed to help make you faster overall.

@Kerrmit84 I would suggest making one of those runs longer and slower and one of them shorter but with some intervals. Starting at one minute with two minutes of slow recovery, and each week increase the load by adding more intervals, making them longer or reducing the duration of the recovery period. You may need to do the long run on the weekends if you are squeezed for time at lunch. It should be a full hour and go up from there. After a few weeks of doing this you will notice that your regular short run will be faster than it is right now.

Try getting on the balls of your feet and lean forward as you run...almost like gravity is pulling you foreward. They sell running shoes with built up area behind the balls of the feet to encourage this. It also cuts down on heel strikes. They seem to be the new "thing" in age bracket Tri-Athlons in this area.
A deep cycle Marine battery
Oh COME ON! 😂@Kerrmit84

@DukeOfEarle i think it may be dropping to plan d
Oh damnit. You see this is why you’re slowing down. It’s this fear of trying new things or pushing for a higher goal. I think an Interstate Deep Cycle Marine battery and some jumper cables (available at Autozone) will perk you right up and get you properly trotting again!@Kerrmit84
