How will your team do this season and why?

Hard to say really. Coming off the back of a double treble and an invincible year you'd think what else is there to do but fans and Brendan want progress. The treble treble (sounds silly to say) we are capable of getting so I feel like that/improvement in Europe is the minimum. The problem here is we just drew 1-1 at home in the round before the playoffs. We were by far the better team but Athens filled their own box and still never allowed us any room outside the box to shoot. They also had a threat on the counter attack. So will we even make the Champions league?

The board is being blamed for this as we have lost players and haven't replaced and while the main ones talked about spent last season on the bench, we still miss having something different to bring on. Also our centre backs aren't great and we have had to play two young boys at cb for the qualifiers due to suspensions and Boyata not quite being fit after the world cup. Our board has always ran the club well but also very unlikely to spend any of the money we know they have. I suspect they want to see if we get to the champions league before spending but many fans aren't happy with this and neither is Rodgers. He has kind of apologised for his comments but after losing out on John McGinn to Aston Villa because Celtic wouldn't give hibs what they wanted he showed some frustration with the board in a statement.

I can't see Rodgers staying after this season with his ambitions for progress and the board being perhaps overly cautious. As for this season I'll say we will do the double (losing one of the cups) and make it to the champions league group stages. Weirdly that will be a disappointing season.

@thatscottishguy Actually if we do make the champions league I expect more signings so maybe we can do the treble again. Still always hard to have that level of consistency.

@thatscottishguy Yes. You'll win the league but it's hard to go through a season without a mistake. Europe really matters to you so I hope you get further.

Arsenal will be more consistent and competitive than last year, I hope and believe, after some excellent summer signings (though I’m a bit worried about Sokratis/Socrates). Obviously we’re not good enough to challenge for the league.

I’d love to know what you think about Joe Hart?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MartinII I think you will be better and I think Emery is a good fit. I even have you down to finish third.

Hart was bought primarily as cover but you never know, the competition could bring him back to his best. It feels weird that Burnley have three England keepers on the books but yeah, we have depth there.

@Burnley123 Thanks. Don’t tell @Babylon - or do you have Spurs second?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@MartinII No lol. I have Spurs fourth so I already copped that one. 🤣

Our city wisely chose not to try to get a team. Tho civic leaders tried. Waste of money in a city with real problems
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@kate21 Maybe so. In America loads of cities spend money on stadiums to attract a sports team. There are better ways to invest that money.
yidooooooooooooooooooos lol
I think we will be amazing again, after a disappointing transfer window looks like we're stuck with the French world cup winning captain, the world cup golden boot winner, 9 world cup semi-finalists, the Asian international player of the year, the 4 time Danish footballer of the year and the best youth academy in English football... again damn!
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@InOtterWords lol. So much of the transfer news is about the spectacle in its own right. Will you challenge for the title?
CountScrofula · 41-45, M
Tell me what team to support.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula Burnley FC. 😇
@CountScrofula tottenham Hotspur
thatscottishguy · 26-30, M
What about Burnley?
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@thatscottishguy 13th in the league and last 16 europa. Out late signings give us a bit of depth. We won't overactive as much but should still stay out of trouble.
