What are your predictions for the new Premiership Season?

If predicted to the top six in order, with reasons. What are your thoughts?

1) Man City

They broke records last year and - though I don't expect them to be quite as good this time - you can't have them as any less than favorites. A superb team at their peak who have really bought into Guardiola's philosophy. The next challenge for them is to see if they can win the Champions League.

2) Liverpool

Champions League finalists last time and excellent big money signings. There is a sense that they are building something under Klopp and that things are coming to a head. They may start slowly because integrating midfielders into a new system can take time. However, this is a really good team and the only side I can see challenging City.

3) Arsenal

This is my boldest prediction because they were a distant sixth last time. There are things in their favour though; no Champions League distraction, talented players but most importantly of all... a manager who is not Arsene Wenger. I think Emery is the right man for them because though he is an intellectual and a passing manager (like Wenger) he also knows how to get the most out of players and how to organise a defence. Forget what happened at PSG, where uber-brat Neymar has more power than any coach. Expect a lot more discipline and harder team too beat. Ozil, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan are world-class players when they are in a good environment. Other players like Ramsey, Xaka and Bellerin have the potential to do a lot better if they have an organised system to play in. They need a center-back though.

4) Spurs

I apologise to the Spurs fans here but I really can't see them doing better than third. If they keep their players and sign them to contracts I think they will finish third. Big if though. They have good players but a small squad, some of which is unsettled. Given the financial constraints, they do wonders to even be in the picture. Forget the moaners who say 'they haven't won anything'. Competing with and beating teams with over double your budget is winning.

5) Chelsea

A hard one to predict cos there are so many unknowns. Sarri did great at Napoli but has only ever managed in Italy. He also has a very specific style which may/may not suit the Chelsea players. So much depends on keeping Courtois and Hazard out of the fingers of Real Madrid. They could challenge for the title or finish 8th. I have them in the middle of that.

6) Man Utd

I have them this low because basically, I'm predicting a Mourinho implosion. This happened in his third year at Chelsea (both spells) and at Real Madrid. All the signs are there because he is falling out with the board and his players in public. This is still a powerful squad which - if not good enough for a title challenge - should be top four. They could prove me wrong but I can also see bad results with Mourinho blaming everyone but himself. I could see the Utd board lose patience after a humiliating defeat to City or Liverpool.

Pretty good analysis there mate but there's a couple of things my bias would have to challenge you on.

City , as good as they are , aren't gonna have a season like last year. To win 32 out of 38 is something that will never be repeated. Teams know now the only way to get anything against City is to attack them (the way we did).Sitting back hoping for a point just isn't an option against them.

We drew 12 games last season , most of which we should easily have won. We also lost games against the real dross in the league. With Allison , Van Dijk and Fabinho that ain't gonna happen this time round.

City are still clear favourites , and rightly so , but if we get a good start and it's close between us come Xmas then all bets are off.

I think Arsenal and Chelsea are both going to struggle this campaign. New managers and no real squad improvement thus far. If Chelsea lose Hazard they can forget it.

Utd ..... oh the joy ...... the season hasn't even begun and already Mourinho is throwing his toys out of the pram. It's little wonder they're having problems recruiting when you see the way he treats his players and the neanderthal football he wants them to play. My prediction ; he'll be gone by xmas.

And I can't leave without mentioning your lot. Nothing would give me greater pleasure (apart from us winning the league of course) than to see you repeat your form of last year and finish above Everton again. Best of luck.

(P.S. We just stuck five past Napoli with no reply in Alisson's debut.)

@RodionRomanovitch I agree that City won't be quite as dominant this time. Yes, you have to press them and attack them but only other big six are even capable of that. Guardiola's sides can struggle in big games but they are relentlessly consistent as flat-track bullies. I can see them dropping points but not in more than a dozen games and I can't see them getting less than 85 points.

I think Liverpool are capable of that but consistency is the thing for you guys. You can beat any team on your day but to finish above City, you can't afford many errors. It can be done but its tough. I hope you do.

As for Burnley, I am a bit worried. Our only new signing so far is Joe Hart. 😂 He's the last player alive who I would have expected or wanted in a Burnley shirt but it kind of makes sense because both of our other keepers are injured. Heaton and Pope are both better than him though but maybe he'll be better cos he has a point to prove.

I grew up watching lower league football and now I'm in a position to be complaining that Burnley have three keepers with England caps, on the books, at the same time.

Got to say Liverpool top
2 city
3 spurs
4 an outsider

Just got a feeling that by the end of the season someone else will have snuck into fourth, don't know who

Also hope Leeds come up and Morecambe avoid the drop

Admittedly this relies on at least one of their top players being sold and injuries. Might be more hope actually that they don't get closer this year.

@thatscottishguy It'd are your fave English team, right?

Yes but my interest in them and the league has been getting lower for years. The appointment of Jose has made it harder to like them. It annoys me to put them 6th but Jose seems already on the verge of his implosion and I've never seen a team with such talent be so boring and unimaginative.

I just need Arsenal and Chelsea to swap places for this to makes sense. Lol
The moaners can do one as far as I'm concerned. I have supported Spurs for almost 40 years and this is the best and most exciting football I can remember.

We will beat Arsenal
