Is your sports team and its fans heavily linked with certain political views? Do you hold those views?

Just watched a video on the 5 most political footaball clubs. Unsurprisingly my club Celtic was among them and I hold a lot of the same views.

But you guys still have a leftover from all that Catholic/Protestant divide thing going on up there.
I would have thought that would have died out by now, but maybe it's still prominent.

They have/had similar things in Italy and Spain between certain clubs.
Look at Barcelona and the whole 'Catalonia independence' thing !

@Picklebobble2 It has decreased somewhat but definitely still exists. Celtic still very Irish nationalist and anti-union. Rangers still very much for the union and monarchy. Celtic fans a bit more political with all the left wing and Palestine stuff. Seems Rangers fans now bring Israel flags just bc Celtic fans are pro-Palestine.

Politics still very tied to football in Spain, Italy, Russia and Germany.

Part of the reason why I stopped watching Denver Broncos games was because they held fundraisers for dubya at their headquarters. The entertainment industry should stay out of politics.

if my team was strongly linked to views which I oppose I would probably stop following the team (I am not certain of that because it hasn't happened)

@cycleman Just what happens through mass gatherings of mainly working class people. Almost inevitable.
