How has your opinion of people (humans ) changed from the time you were a child to now ?

For better or for worse WHY?
Serenitree · F
When I was a child, I thought all adults were automatically smart. It never occurred to me that there might be an adult who didn't know everything.

Now I know better.

@Serenitree: Im sure that discovery was a big dissapointment ?
Serenitree · F
@Pureblossom: oh wow!! You have no idea. When I discovered there were things the smartest man in the world (my dad) didn't know, a piece of my world crumbled under my feet. I never quite recovered from that. 😂. There was very little he didn't know or wasn't willing to find out, if I asked him though, so he was still my hero.
worse I suppose as when I was young I was sheltered by my father and lived in a child like Disney world.I wasn't fully prepared for where my pathway and journey took me. lucky I was strong and confident my dad taught me that to. wise man!!❤ love to me dad who will be 80 this year
No. I'm pretty much the same. I still want to see the best in people.

Yes. It's for the better. I used to hate people so much, I couldn't really function. I guess I just realized not every single person was out to hurt me.

@Ephemeral: That's great it's good to be able to let some pll in , hopefully the good kind .
I had no opinions of humans before. I think some are scum, some are wonderful, and some I don't really care about.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
@Dewms: yep that's a good way to look at it 💋

yeah i trust myself more and trust others less. more dependable on myself.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
@kronos: Agreed👌👏👍 100%
kronos · 41-45
yeah i learned my lessons on getting burned by putting too much faith in others
LittleUnicorn · 26-30
worse, much worse than I was aware of and I could imagine.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
@LittleUnicorn: why do you think that is ?
LittleUnicorn · 26-30
@Pureblossom: hypocrisy, betrayal, lust, materialism... I could keep going, but
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
Right , I get you .
People are much dumber than I thought they were when i was 5.
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
@Selah: That is the conclusion I settled on too .
@Selah: lol
i have no opinion of them.. people are individuals and i judge them all based on their own behaviors

I miss the world I grew up in
Pureblossom · 22-25, F
@rckt148: Is it not the same as now, just with social media to shine the light on all the things happening?
rckt148 · 61-69, M
@Pureblossom: no they can paint that picture and spin that crap till hell freezes over ,My family built a town ,,employed hundreds ,fed thousands maybe millions
My Uncle appointed the first Black Cop ever ,,and the First female cop and the first Female Chief on police ,and he still holds the record for the longest sitting mayor in our State ,,
My other Uncle ran the crews that put in US1 and I-95 ,,
my Dad a hard worker with only a 9th grade education was part of a team that helped put men on the moon that now they lie and say was a hoax to bankrupt Russia ,,Russian is still reusing the same model craft today
And when we needed their help ,,put a single engine in our shuttle and launched in 3 days hardly anyone has even heard of
We had no armed cops in the schools ,metal detectors to get into the tax office or armed police at the VA ,and Social Security
I know only one family that had been through a divorce ,One
Every Sunday was Church and a big meal at Grandma's (my parents were not religious but we were not forbid from going )
My Grandma taught girls ,,GA's they were called ,Members of the VFW ,Moose Lodge
everyone in my family owned their own homes and cars ,only Dads had to work and Mom was suppose to be home raising kids ,,I was not so blessed
I was there the day the first Blacks came to White schools and the Highway Patrol had to escort them to class ,but most were already friends of mine ,their Moms or Grandma's had watched me when I was real little ,
I know of one murder and Charlie Manson who actually killed no one was the scariest thing on the news ,
We had Vietnam but that was on their shore not ours
But I was told by many how my Grandparents helped so many during the depression
Then came in the sports with their bass boats and seen the size of the fish and said my family was fishing them into extinction ,wanted nets used as long as man has known how to fish ,even mentioned in the Bible banned ,,
they want to fish ,take pictures and weigh them and put them back
Turned a thriving town into a ghost town and all that is big there now is Crack and Meth and the revolving door of the prison system for the kids who grow up there ,,
a 1.500 member community where everyone knew everyone ,schools and fire services ,6 or 7 at any given time stores ,local owned and ran ,
Everything you could want ,from a hand built boat and a motor to go on it ,winter clothes for your kids ,,shoes ,a real country butcher ,the best subs on the planet ,,all gone ,,now 1 dollar general and a speedway store
even my Grandpa's prise orange trees looks like a jungle ,vines have taken it over
no I do not think the media did all that ,and they world as we knew it is gone
and I can't even give you any real references ,,
there is not a glimpse of it left
No its a different world ,and no media can even report all the bad in one city now let alone all thats wrong with our nation
but they do work hard to glamorize it

Better, MUCH better. Back then I wouldn't have given you a chance, nowadays I always try to look past evil. Sometimes i do such a good job at looking past it that people think I'm wrong for not judging them, they think i try to defend them. It's strange.
