How can someone say such hateful things and actually think it hurts those people?

I remember looking on a blog/community for LGBQ and i saw a comment that said something like "You're all a disgrace to the quran, i hope you burn in hell..." First: whats the point of going the community to say that....it changes nothing, you'll just get laughed at. Second: Saying someone is a disgrace to a religious text that they don't believe in is not needed/dumb....and once again you'll get laughed at...the comment had no affect, i wonder why..... 🤔🙄
