can crushes sometimes happen suddenly or is it always gradual

For example like celeb crushes would it be natural to not think about them in that way for a while and then all of a sudden there it us?

it is gradual for me.. i like to observe how they react to situations and what there personality is like for a period of time before i decide i like them.
