[SW PSA] How to deal with the 17,459 character limit! ๐๐๐
I know! Not a soul here has any problems!
This is for the real odd ball, like me, that actually has such a post and wants to add more to it! ๐๐
First off. Add a number line to the bottom of the post like this, it doesn't need to be fancy.
That's 150 characters. If you plan on more, add more numbers.
While still in the edit mode, remember these rules. Most are totally obvious.
Must note that SW formatting options are in that 17,459 character limit. So try to limit any SW formatting options.
I actually didn't have to resort to removing any formatting options. That's how much space I saved by shortening the numbers.
Had 17 characters left at the end of my post after the additions. It was only some links. ๐

ยฐ 1 Extra spaces is your enemy! And often the editor leaves an extra space at the end of a sentence or before the return mark. Check it! Also check for any other added spaces in a sentence. We are all human. I caught a number of extra floaters.
ยฐ 2 This part depends on how grammatically correct you want your posts to be. I'm not really that picky on that post.
Yet if you are not picky the following tips can help.
ยฐ 2a Fully spelled out numbers is a problem on long posts. It takes a lot of characters just for the long numbers like twenty seven or even the shorter seventh or twelveth. You use far less characters using 25 or 7th or 12th. I created that post with a lot of spelled out numbers. And actually had some space left over by shortening just the numbers.
ยฐ 2b Contractions are your friend. "I have" over "I've" wastes space. If you generally don't use contractions perhaps you might want to consider them on a very long post. Not like you'll make many long posts anyway.

ยฐ 3 Once you have reduced the number of characters on your post with that number line included. Send it.
What's left of the number line is the number of characters that you can add to your post.
