Have you ever been moved to tears by a piece of music?

What was the song?
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
A few weeks ago I had a dream about a friend of mine who died almost 20 years ago. We had a long friendship and not all of it was good. Right before he died, he confessed something to me that greatly disappointed and depressed me. He had lied to me about something significant that affected many years of my life. It's been hard to forgive him even though I sometimes miss him. In the dream, he begged my forgiveness. When I woke up, I prayed to have a more forgiving heart in regards to my friend.

It was Sunday and I went to church still thinking about the dream. I knew I needed to forgive my friend. When I got to church, they started the service with a hymn, "I'll Fly Away."
I started crying and wept off and on as they sang, feeling forgiveness flow through me. It was my friend's favorite hymn.

Yes. But for different reasons each song. And warning it's a little sappy my choices. Here are the songs that have made me cry at one point:

Don't Go Away - Oasis
Sweet Love - The Commodores
Creep - Radiohead (Korns version)
Because - The Beatles
Maggot Brain - Funkadelic
Little Wing - Jimi
Fade to Black - Metallica
Great Gig in the Sky - Pink Floyd
Pain - 2Pac
Ex Factor - Lauryn Hill
Only One - Kanye

@CountMonteCrisco: He's not the best in terms of technicality but he is THE REALEST most honest rapper. That makes him Top 5. You can feel his emotion.
SW-User
@Dichotomy: Very true. He's definitely either number 1 or 2 on my list (Scarface and he always fight for number 1 lol).
SW-User
@CountMonteCrisco: Lol I feel you. Never listened to much Scarface. But that reminds me Smile is a very powerful song too.
Depends on my mood really. And the right song. I will think on it more if you wish...There is Boston's More Than A Feeling. Tracy Chapman's Fast Car. There is one by a female black singer who sings about wanting her love back with her. Crossing mountains, deserts, miles and miles...I cannot find it on youtube. I wonder if anyone can tell me the name. It is an older song and has been redone many times. Many songs make me cry with sadness or with love. They stir my blood.
The New York song gets me each time. The one where the woman belts out how living in New York is really the best way of living. It is passionate. Especially the chorus. And some of Josh Groban's music makes me cry too with joy.

@PoetryNEmotion: Those are some good choices. When was the song you can't remember originally made? Is it blues or R and B? Yes music is a powerful thing. It can stir the soul in ways we sometimes don't expect.
@CountMonteCrisco: Thank you. I hear it every once in a while. It is older. A black female. She is not well-known. She sings solo. And there is instrumentals too.

Ever seen Thin Red Line? The hymn in that song.
SW-User
Gonna go check that one out.
mumbling · 26-30, F
@CountMonteCrisco: There's a couple from that movie. But I think it's better to watch the movie and hear the hymn for the first time that way. (If you haven't seen it).
SW-User
@mumbling: Ah I see. I feel the same way about Road to Perdition. The score means so much more with the movie.
