Were you told its impolite/ rude to correct people?

It always shocks me people abruptly correct me, when my mistake was nothing more than a nerves.

I don't mind being corrected just don't bite my head off in the process!

I used to correct people but I don't anymore. It's rude but I do correct people who are very close to me so that they don't make a fool of themselves.

@Beatbox34 I try my hardest not to do it. It's the same with finishing someones sentence. I find while a partner may see it as cute during the loved up phase, when it comes to others generally they don't appreciate it. And will change what they were going to say just so they don't seem so predictable.

@Mellowgirl I know what you mean. This is actually why I stopped. Not everyone wants to be corrected which is fine and we have no right of doing so unless they're very close to us.
Not generally do I correct unless they think they know it all.

It is bad manners

@BalmyNites these days people don't know what manners mean!

@Mellowgirl If someone interrupts you when you’re speaking, that’s rude in itself; but to then correct you is offensive

it's "rude"?

okie dokie... next time someone is about to make a "mistake" that results in them being seriously maimed or killed... I'll just stand back and watch instead, wouldn't want to be rude and save their life or anything... 🤔

@wildbill83 no idea
