Why are people so afraid to be themselves?

SW-User
Because they are afraid of rejection that comes with from the 'masses'.

It's easier said than done... Even though we're generally taught to be unapologetically ourselves from a young age, as we grow up we find that many people don't know how to respect someone else's happiness and instead try to sabotage it. Especially if you're noticeably different from the people you're surrounded by. Everyone wants to be liked and respected, that's human nature. We change to fit in with the group because we all seek acceptance and belonging.

Yeah like calling someone something they are not right!!
Judgement. Rejection. Criticism.

But I say freak it.

I am who I am.

Take it or leave it.

😕

Most people don't know who they are, it's more that they are afraid to find out.
MrsKatherineArch · 41-45, F
I think because they are afraid of what other people will think of them.

Theres always a penalty for being yourself. In my experience. Im still myself though. Just refined.

Few things hurt more than being rejected for who you truly are.
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
Because society doesnt let them
SW-User
Isnt it sad?
MartinTheFirst · 22-25, M
@Chantou: it is, thats a big reason for why i distance myself from society. I do not like faking.
SW-User
@MartinTheFirst: I'm true, I hid too many years.. I'll never be what others expect me ro be no more
