I’m going to throw myself a graduation party

By myself. If nobody is going to celebrate me and my accomplishments I’ll do it myself. Graduate with honors. Get a job in my field before graduation. Do exceptionally well on the portfolio assessment for my license . All going uncelebrated by my boyfriend. Least he could have done was made plans to take me out to dinner when this is all over . Or even cheaper - bought me chocolates. My favorites are sold in a bag for $3.

I empathize. I earned four college degrees all with honors, with scholarships and grants, and my parents barely acknowledged it at all. In fact, with my first bachelors degree, my dad sent me a hate letter! I was shocked. When I was going for my grad degree, my mother stole my notes for my graduate thesis and threw them away while I slept on the morning of the trash pickup; I awoke to the sound of the garbage truck and wondered why my mother was sitting in a chair watching me wake up with a sneaky smile on her face. She really seemed to enjoy watching me figure out that my notes were now permanently gone.

I really missed having someone in my life there for me to cheer me on and congratulate me.

You should celebrate your accomplishments, even if no one else will. And then keep doing all the positive things that you have been doing. You have a great start at life. Keep it going.
Congratulations on your job, graduation and taking matters into your own hands!
