Since I've never been a gamer and know absolutely nothing about it...Do most online games have a point?

There are some where you can make money, but most are pure entertainment.

Mindless entertainment

Online games are more of a mental break.

I think about games like Rocket League, Call of Duty, Overwatch... it’s a 5-10 minute competition. A test of my motor skills but also mental skills.

gameplay is usually addicting as well as fighting to be at the top of leaderboards

I was wondering the same thing as I played Minecraft Dungeons

Im sorry but I can hardly understand the point of your question. They are GAMES after all. What is the purpose of any game?? Fun, competition

There are ancillary purposes as well such as military propaganda and community. Some are geographically or historically accurate so could have a teaching aspect.
I mean games are so diverse but at their core they entertain.

It's entertainment. But some of them are really good. 🙂
