Should I listen to my dad?

He refuses to bail me out financially anymore and the car he bought me was the last big purchase or so he says. Anyway when he called on Thanksgiving he lectured me about living a fantasy life and needing to live within my means. He seems to think that if I moved to another state where the cost of living wasn't so high I would be better off.

According to him I don't make awful money but I would get more for my buck if I transferred and moved states. That way whatever I save on living costs I can use to pay debts. He also got on me about partying and drug usage again .
Time to grow up?

He's got sense. Keep away from drugs and listen to him, if you love yourself.
@Addictedtoglamour you've got a friend and well-wisher in him.

@Vivaci It's not the first time he's tried to lecture me. I usually just roll my eyes whenever he tries to give me business advice or tells me what I can do career wise.
@Addictedtoglamour You should actually make him proud man....you know you don't want to be like this.

Cost of living is usually related to level of income. Get paid a lot more in California, but it costs a fortune to live there. Move to Mississippi, cheap living... make $10.00 hr

Would you know anyone in the other state?
There is a lot of good to be said for his advice, but if you move, you should also have a plan for occupying your spare time that doesn't leave you time for drug usage. You don't want boredom and loneliness to strengthen your bad habits. You should make that plan before you arrive at the place you move.

@Poppies I was born in Michigan so if I went back there I would have family there. My mother lives in Florida so I would have her and my stepdad there.

@Addictedtoglamour Would you be able to make as much money in those other states as you are making now?
Addictedtoglamour · 31-35, M
@Poppies Not sure that's something I'd have to look into.

Yes listen to your dad. You’re also lucky that he bought you a car at all.
Addictedtoglamour · 31-35, M
@MrMonnyPenny I've been lucky. I totaled two of the cars I had.
