"...for three goats."
When in a trip to Cairo, they offered me 23 camels for my, by those days, recent wife.
I was young and unexperienced, so I declined.

@CharlieZ Hindsight is a wonderful thing... You could have held out for 25

@CharlieZ That's kind of disturbing

@Quizzical May be more!😁

@Ishtar Lady, yes, the offer was real and, in fact, disgusting.
But was the source of mild humor from her colleges (we were in an International Congress of her profession) for years. Mostly "girls talk" between them.
For me is a far memory of one of the very few good years of a bad marriage.

Of course, I do not find acceptable at all what was behind the anecdote.

@Ishtar Curious, even so...
Men in the contingent did not took too well the situation. (the 70´s were particulary serious about some subjects).
But "girls" with us (colleagues and friends with each other), usually rightly jealous of their dignities (with us, men of their culture) took it … more lightly.
They even discussed how much camels may, each one, be traded for. And, said by them next morning, it triggered some fantasies during that night with their respectives husbands and BF´s there.

The contradictory misteries of the woman´s mind!
