what do you think of Lenore Skenazy?

I hate people like Lenore Skenazy. people only listen to her because she went to Yale. I think she encourages parents too much to let their kids do whatever they want without consequences. just because she says people are safer now doen't mean you let them do more dangerous things. And statistics dosen't mean anything if you are putting your child in danger, I think it was neglectful to let her nine year old in the middle of new york alone without a phone. if he got lost she would never forgive herself. she makes these crazy jokes like she has a spare son at home. I cant believe anyone agrees with her. she blows everything out of proportion about how she thinks a normal parent is a helicopter parent. its better to be a helicopter parent then a what she calls "free range parent". I just get so upset when people are like that. my mom used to be like her and I would have been better off and non needed a psychologist like I did now. I am just glad i had a dad that would stop me from doing crazy stuff as a kid. Its very dangerous to encourage parents to not worry about anything out there and this woman does not understand that its not only about what someone can do to your child its also about what your child can do to other kids hit them and no one there to stop the fight. its good to let kids have freedom at home but outside of the house there are more dangers so you cant let them do as much as at home. if you are liable for your kids you have to be as protective as you personally feel comfortable with. there is a reason people feel uncomfortable giving there kids too much freedom. if she feels fine letting her son do this thats one thing but dont encourage other parents to not be afraid and let their son do this too.

To be honest i knew nothing about her until i read your post.
I went and had a look at her website and the first thing i thought when i read it ???.....this is a front !

There's no 'Statement of intent' or 'Mission statement'. but surprisingly there is a page devoted to letting you know EXACTLY which states have LAWS allowing/prohibiting you from leaving your children alone in a car !!!

I think it's a front for something else.
Maybe the government is about to introduce new laws regarding parents having to looking for work instead of relying on any benefit payouts.
