I'm reading this book "Dope sick" by Beth Macy. And it goes into Oxy epidemic of the early 2000 and now with the impact of fentanyl. I was just wondering the number, you don't have to give your story, of the people you know that have been affected by this. And how responsible should big pharma be held.

I was in the medical profession for many years. Most of my patients were elderly and most were addicted to oxy. Doctors handed it to them like candy.
As far as big pharma being held. They aren't alone in this, they have help from the FDA and doctors. Doctors are offered HUGE REALLY HUGE bribes to prescribe more. You may be interested in this book. It's quite accurate from what I have observed.

Big pharma is the reason why I nearly developed an autoimmune disease, which is why I even lie to my parents to avoid any antibiotics unless absolutely required

Too many doctors prescribe antibiotics they’re paid to promote and most patients don’t even know their rights

@LucyFuhr I guess it's called Carfentanil.

@MrAboo oh, I thought it was mainly coming from pain clinics in the state.

My search didn’t say anything about that, but I wouldn’t rule it out tbh

Pharmaceuticals sent me to rehab twice.
Although my issues weren't oxy or fentanyl, there was a time I was on 22 different prescriptions, daily. I was such a mess, I could barely remember my own name.

Then a friend introduced me to cannabis...I think he literally saved my life.

@LucyFuhr I agree with that medical cannabis is a good alternative.

You are aware, are you not, that fentanyl is never prescribed for patient use? It's sold on the black market and that is not the fault of "big pharma". In fact, NONE of the drug problems are the fault of "big pharma". They don't prescribe drugs, they manufacture them and doctors prescribe them.

@katielass They have peddlers pushing their product. Doctors get freebies and certain kick back by perscribing certain drugs. And you can or could get fentanyl with a prescription.
None that i know of (not that i would know but) most of my friends and family are anti drug both pharmaceutical and otherwise

@SStarfish I think that's the best way to go.

The pushing of statins way beyond the cohort that will benefit from them is a marketing nightmare.

not from that, but my infusion costs $21k, and I have to do it every 8 weeks
