Is it weird that I don't want people to feel sorry for me because I have no mom around?

My best friend and her mom feels bad for me since my mom left. Since my mom walked out on us, I have been without a around mom for 10 years. She never showed us love and she wasn't there for us when we needed her. I especially needed her when I was going through puberty. My dad says I need to stop swelling I the past and move on and live my own life. There's people that have mothers that are no longer alive and they suffer the worst. You have other mother figures. You don't need your mom for that. MOVE ON.
My aunt who lives near us stepped on to help me with girl stuff and offered to take me places or asked to spend the night with her. She knows it's hard for me not having a mom aroind. My friends feel sorry for me that I don't have a mother around and so does some of my family. I don't want people to feel sorry for me.
I wish people would quit feeling sorry for me. I'm NOT motherless. It's tough being the only girl in a house of men. It isn't fair

Honest question...why is your username MotherlessDaughter01 then, if you don't want to identify as being motherless? *confused*

@MotherlessDaughter01 It seems like you're confused. On the one hand, you don't want people feeling sorry for you, and on the other hand, you want to address and talk about it.
I think your father is right about you holding onto it, because it sounds like you haven't worked through your emotions and healed yourself.
You should talk to a counselor.
