What’s something new you’re not fond of?

PavlovsPuppy · 100+, F
Something new that I'm not fond of? Hmmm, well do I have enough room to write a 25 page essay here? 😁
Okay fine, I'll pick my biggest pet peeve.
I suppose hilariously enough that my answer would be the Internet. It's a double-edged sword really.
You can either use it in wonderful mind-expanding ways such as research, connecting to new friends and family, continuing an education online, or even running a business from home.
Or you could use it in bad ways, which is not good for your emotional and mental health. You could become addicted to video games and hardcore pornography. You could find support for unhealthy warped views, such as self-harm, eating disorders, suicide, etc.
I've read a lot of stories about lonely people being sucked into things they would have never considered before, just because they joined the wrong group/forum on the Internet. It doesn't take long for something that you once considered taboo to become your new "normal"...and that's scary. 😐

@PavlovsPuppy Interesting that you would choose video games and pornography. I won’t try to defend them because those are very real things, but I will say addictions come in all shapes and sizes.

I do agree with the internet as a whole. Especially the accessibility aspect for our youth. It hurts to watch them endure abusive friendships because their adhd attention cravings are so easy to satisfy.

Someone disagrees with you? Move on to the next person. Don’t like the way someone talks? Next. Bored? Oh hey here’s someone new.

The way the internet makes people assume guilty until proven innocent instead of the other way around.

@Rokasu Outside of the internet we have legal systems and court to settle serious cases. That's not the case online. People can have their entire livelihoods and careers destroyed over simple rumors and drama. It's a serious problem when your job is entertainment through this medium.

@Reject Never thought of it like that... appreciate the perspective older bro.

@Rokasu Anytime Roki! ♥️ It's something really new that I'm not fond of. It's a problem that's so recent, we don't even have any way to properly deal with it yet. Outside of famous figures, it even affects those of us on here. Doxing or other accusations are always met with that attitude, "Guilty until proven innocent", and this I've been a victim of and lost friends when someone decided to start spreading lies about me because they were mad at me. There's no defense against it here on social media.

I'm not fond of the idea that we can no longer just agree to disagree. One side has to right or better.

The way some people use social media sites as online pickup joints, sometimes trying to pick up women who aren't even there for dating or flirting, on sites that weren't meant to be used as dating sites. I guess this has been going on since the dawn of the internet, but the internet is still relatively new.

Entitled mindsets.

The assumption by social media and sales apps that you want to tell everyone on the planet what books you’re reading, what brand clothes you’re wearing, when your birthday is, what your personal likes and dislikes are. My real friends already know these things from spending time or having actual conversations with me. 🙄
