Have you ever befriended a homeless person?

SW-User
Technically two. One was a coworker who just stayed in the building even when he was off the clock occasionally sleeping in people’s cars he never did with mine though. One time we went out on a hike for a couple hours with a lot of beer I brought like 3 or 4 tall boys and he got a 12 pack by the end of the day he only drank like three and still was buzzed lol anyway since he was homeless he let me keep those nine beers I’ll never forget and let that gesture go unappreciated. I took him to a Mexican restaurant after the hike. And the other guy who is technically homeless just works for the Red Cross or something where he spends more time on the road, than at home so he doesn’t spend money on s house or rent and just crashes at different people’s houses. He is the brother of one of my co-workers so sometimes he stops by and we smoke pot when he does we also went a hike once and smoked a joint on it. So far every homeless person I’ve personally met were cool and chill as shit
Yes ,she was begging on Broadway and I brought her drinking for the day another time I met a homeless dude down town and we just sat and drank for hours ,two of my best experiences

@Nunlover you wouldn’t happen to live in Nashville?

Very very often. My work is helping homeless people get jobs and get back on track with their lives.

@hippyjoe1955 nice. So you get to hear their stories? What's your title? Sounds like social work @hippyjoe1955

@iamnikki I run a little non profit company that hires homeless people to work on various jobs and help them with their addictions or mental issues. Yes I hear their stories and have developed a good ear at cutting through the crap they spew that is part of their 'story'.

Yeah, there was a woman in my old writing group who was homeless. Not living on the streets homeless but with no permanent residence.

No, but I have given money, cigarettes, food, and booze.
I am as uninterested in their stories as I am in the stories of anyone else.
