Anyone got a Brewers dictionary ?

It's a dictionary that explains words and phraseology but is very comprehensive.
Kinda like the old Pears Cyclopedia used to be.

Having researched the usual places, i see that many folk pick fault with mis-information and general incorrect info.

Just wondered if anyone had a copy they were satisfied with

I have an online subscription to the full OED (the one that would take about 27 volumes if it was on paper). It shows what path words took on their way towards the English language, examples of when they were first used, full etymology (if known) and includes all words used in the past 500 years even if they are not used now. I absolutely love it. I use it at least two or three times a week.

@GlassDog I follow their page on social media! It has the odd example of a random word you've never heard of and etomylogies

I have the centenary edition of Brewers Dictionary of Phrase and Fable, I find it invaluable for researching colloquialisms.

No, but I sure could use one!🤔It's hard for me to even find a regular dictionary?! 📚Books are becoming obsolete...but I love them.

I think I transitioned directly from Pears to Google

No way to go back now
