How much effort should an individual put into not offending others?

NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
a lot because it’s easier to prevent it than to have to backtrack and recover from offending someone. i try not to put myself into a position where i might have to apologize later lol.

We should always be aware of the people around us, be respectful and kind. I have (unwittingly) offended people before, and it bothers me. I don 't like it.

It’s better to put effort into not offending someone than doing the opposite. But sometimes we can offend people when we aren’t intending to

Sometimes it's not that we need to learn to coexist with differing opinions.

What we need is to stop creating an opposition or pushing others in corners making them our opposition, just so we feel right and different.

One can do that either by offending, or taking things that aren't an insult as offence.

An individual should put lot of effort to avoid both.

I put a lot into it around certain types, out of respect.

Effort? Not sure I'd say effort. It's, at least for me, respecting others, yet I'm not going to go along with their nonsense. I say and do what I believe to be right, and while I hope it doesn't offend others, I can't be responsible for their sensibilities.

If the offense is not mentally, emotionally, and physically hurtful, I don't mind inflicting it. You only get to be honest for one lifetime, and then you die.

If you don't like being offended, then you should put a lot of effort into it.

That depends on the type of offense and why? Sometimes its needed and sometimes its not. Its just rude and crass in other cases

Depends, how much effort are they putting in about understanding and not taking things wrong?

A lot - taking the higher ground isn’t easy but without that action the world would fall into complete doom!

As much effort as the thought of offending..there is a choice.
