Why do people reply to topics that don't apply to them?

My favorite are the people who don't answer a question that's asked. Usually on a forum board. Someone will ask "So and so isn't working on my computer, and I tried this this and this to fix it but it's still not working. Any suggestions?" And the poor soul has to weed through 15 stupid replies before there's an answer, because most people just say "I hate when that happens!" or "Ooh, that sounds difficult" or "Did you try Googling the answer?" 馃槖
