What are the consequences for false reporting?

I'm talking obviously false reporting, y'know?

I'm sure a mod "might" be on to inform us all (Because I view SW a learning experience not just for me, but for everyone who reads my posts)
I think their reputation by admins will fall, means reporting will be looked at more critical, but I'm not sure how it works.
@Fangirlsarah1996
Agreed. I'd hope repeatedly malicious flagging should be giving a warning for illegal activity.

@SapphicHeart Agreed...and a "cool off" from using the report feature.

Repeat offences after the "cool off" runs out would result in a permanent ban from issuing reports.

Great suggestion.

The punishment involves ropes, a chair and cupcakes. Don't do it!
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@StevetheSleeve 😂 Oh yeah, I forgot about that lol

What is the definition of "false reporting"? Can you give us an example, please?
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@NankerPhelge You also don't seem to be able to detect sarcasm.

So, time to educate you on something you should already know.

A debate is a discussion between two opposing points that usually involves presenting proof and taking turns.

An argument is...well...an argument, they are usually heated and end up with personal insults getting hurled between those involved.

@Fangirlsarah1996 Theoretically, your explanation is correct. However, on websites such as this one, I keep seeing discussions between two opposing points that initially involve presenting proof and taking turns, then after a few comments they end up insulting each other simply because they disagree. That brings us back to your comment "It's the difference between an argument and a debate... at the end of the day two people are disagreeing with each other, so "surely" both must be the same thing", which apparently you meant sarcastically but I took literally. If people can't debate in a civilised manner without turning into annoying assholes, then they are just arguing for the sake of being annoying assholes. In the final analysis we are both right about this.
@Fangirlsarah1996 he probably reported you for that 😉

I don't report often becausse they never take even the real one's seriously. Awhile back I reported someone, because the mod knew the person I was reporting and were close friends with them, they didn't do anything about it.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
@butterfly1013 That's false, the reporting system is automated and things that get reported more are dealt with by that system quickly, for one time reports it has to be checked by a person so it takes a while. Even then you may have been mistaken in your report since I don't know the details.

It could affect your reputation.
Is there a penalty? It seems a bit harsh but then someone might be harassing someone by making lots of reports against them without cause.
Fangirlsarah1996 · 26-30, F
@InOtterWords That's what I mean, one mistaken report shouldn't have any action...but say...a dozen? Two dozen? That should warrant a warning and a "cool off" from using the report button.
