Persistent Thought

This happened some time ago,
and before that, that other thing happened.
I swear at this point I could be seen as a pro
at dealing with all these blows.

I am overcome with a persistent wonder
Even with my eyes shut close
I can see the probing within them
as they try to keep up with my speeding mind as it desperately tries to be several steps ahead of whatever is to come
