Why do I get friend requests from strangers in Facebook?

Either they think they know you or they want to know you. Some people use facebook as a way to meet people for potential relationships.

@Soulspace Except your profile picture, right? Maybe they think you're cute. Or, if you don't use a picture of yourself, maybe they're just casting a wide net. I can talk to a hundred girls. If 99 of them ignore me, but even one of them gives me the time of day, that's a win.

Just guessing, though. :p Who knows why people really do what they do.

You probably don't.
This will be Facebook figuring out that the two of you know another as a friend and in it's bid to flog advertising thinks it's found other suckers to add to it's list if you friend them.
