Religion is like a car. It can either get you where you want to go, or it can kill you and others, and break hearts. It depends on who is driving. Unfortunately, the vast majority are too fecked up to handle religion.

It's actually a pretty good summation and interesting because the 'positives' you mentioned are all selfish in nature. Unless I'm mistaken the Bible is about being unselfish.
