I keep seeing attacks on Muslims here and how they all support suicide bombers [Spirituality & Religion]

How come I have seen no mention of the fact that everyone from his Imam to his family and friends reported the Manchester bomber to the police? The Muslim community tried to stop this. http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/salman-abedi-manchester-attack-reported-family-imam-friends-did-nothing-a7757726.html

Oh, and please, before I get more ridiculous attacks saying that I am some Muslim apologist, please be aware that I am an atheist. I actually believe that religion causes far more harm than good. I just disagree with the lies and propaganda. If you are going to attack something, at least be honest about it.

Muslims's aren't the problem, radical idiots are.
The Manchester bomber was known to police, so questions have to be raised - he was a known danger, how could he be allowed to carry out such an awful act that cost so many young and innocent people their life?
SW-User
@cian91: exactly!
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@cian91: You have a horse and cart problem...read the Koran. Not all Germans were and take time to look at PWE research on Moslem attitudes around the world then get back to me about the "radical idiots" you suppose are so few....they are in the hundreds of millions.

@LesDeplorable: Seems to me like the non-Muslims in the US are doing just fine doing that stuff all on their own...
Abrienda · 26-30, F
@Laifu1: Salem 1692/93....the "Inquisition"? When was the last time the "Inquisition burned anyone alive...yesterday(FYI the "Inquisition" is not an event but an office)? Why not throw in the CRUSADES....that ended 700 years ago.

How about NOW?

Today - TODAY - Moslems are killing people all over the world based on their "holy book" in USA, France, Germany, Russia, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, UK, Nigeria, Eqypt, Burma, Thailand, Philippines, along with Chrostians beheaded in Indonesia (two school girls) blown up in churches (Pakistan, twice)and Syria and Iraq? And you are babbling about the INQUISITION? That's fatuous.

I know dhimmis hate facts, nevertheless PEW Research, 2013, found collectively in the non-European countres surveyed FIFTY-FIVE PERCENT of Moslems believed suicide bombing was "rarely" to "often" justifified. Taking out "rarely"(!) gives you fourteen percent. Do the math...there are some 2 billion Mosems in the world....that mean TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHY MILLION Moslems believe suicide bombings are "sometimes/often" justified; throw in "rarely" it becomes ONE BILLION! Just a billion crazy lone wolves, nothing to do with Islam lets talk about SALEM. You use events from centuries ago to establish an insane moral equivalency.

Adolf Hitler became PM of Germany after the Nazi's won only a third of the vot. At any one time only 13 percent of Germans were ever members of the Nazi Party but according to your way of reasoning if you were in Auschwitz or surving the fire bombing of Brtish cities or the destruction of 90 percent of Warsaw you would just smile and shake your head andsay "Well gee not ALL Germans are Nazis there are a lot of peace-loving Germans, we did bad things to whomever 200 hundreds years ago and really there are a lot of good peaceful passages in Mein Kampf...you're just a Naziphobe!"

Exactly!
People want to simply believe that because one of that race did something, the others must be like that because humans are judgemental and can never see that the rest AREN'T all like that

@Laifu1: All People are under constant survellience..its called policing.. and comparing rogue shootings against an entire religion set on taking over the planet by way of killing innocent people and changing the land (Europe)into a muslim country is just stupid and makes you a muslim apologist
SW-User
@Laifu1: White people are the greatest threat to humanity at this time. They're blowing shit up and running over people all the time!

I do agree with you, but..
The Manchester Muslims have a strong personal interest in trying to prevent that bombing from happening, and speaking out against it after the act, and good for them. In Australia there has been one Muslim cleric denounce that act. ONE... At least there was one.
The WHOLE Muslim world community should be screaming to high heaven against these sort of acts, and they don't.
walabby · 61-69, M
@Laifu1: The difference is that when a Christian commits mass murder, he almost always if not always always, doesn't shout "I do this in the name of Jesus"... or some such.
When a Muslim extremist shouts "Allahu Akbar" or "Inshallah" before running over, spraying with AK47 bullets or detonating his/her vest bomb, they, in the eyes of non-Muslims, identify with ALL the sects of Islam. All Muslims need to be more proactive in denouncing such acts if they want to be considered responsible citizens by the rest of the world.

@Laifu1: Yeah, I know it's complex. One of the reasons that stood out as to why Muslims don't speak out against acts of terror is because they are worried that they themselves might be killed for doing so by the extremists. What a lovely, cuddly religion...
Problem is, if Islam doesn't control their extremists the rest of the community eventually will. This whole thing is not going to end well.
I do feel very sorry for moderate Muslims. They are seriously caught between a rock and a hard place... :/
True. IF one believes, the determining factor of one's authentic faith relationship with God is not one's denomination, religious practice or performance in Christian disciplines, but rather the presence of the indwelling Spirit of Christ. As it is written, “if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him. (Rom.8:9)

Everyone is acting irrational for a reason. It's not right what everyone's doing but I can't blame them. The coverage on the actual important stuff is just too little to get to the affected people. So all they see is that another crazed extremists blew himself up.
SW-User
@GermanAf: yeah, but the purpose of the media was to fix that.
SW-User
@Laifu1: The internet does a good job at that sometimes. Some independent news sites do report everything. It just needs to get to the people.
SW-User
@GermanAf: as with most things, it has become about what makes the most money. It is sad that we have to go to small, independent sites for our news now

Because people tend to believe just what they want to believe and disregard anything that diminishes that belief.
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
These people are desperate to define an 'other'. If they can just say "The people look like this, believe this, and they are the enemy." then it's comfortable and easy to deal with.

The alternative is that people commit terrible atrocities for complex reasons that aren't easy to fix and may be even related to our social identity and behaviour. And that is very uncomfortable for a lot of people.
SW-User
@CaptainCanadia What scares me is how much we are making people into "others." This is always how it starts. I am truly afraid for our country. Did you see the NRA commercial that is encouraging conservatives to see liberals as the enemy and protect themselves? They may be trying to sell guns, but they are fanning the flames of an already volatile situation.
CaptainCanadia · 41-45, M
@SW-User Yeah. I mean, I mean when we talk about people getting 'radicalized' you can look at entire institutions. The NRA are arguing everyone in America should have several guns, and then to see each other as enemies to destroy. Like - that's not a sane thing to say, but here they are advertising it.

there's about 1 billion muslims. there's 6 billion people on the planet. 1 in 6 are terrorists? it doesn't even have any kind of basic logic.
but then, hatred and bigotry haven't too.

I think they should attack their government--it's their responsibility to provide top security for citizens who pay them taxes. The government dgaf---it's as simple as that
SW-User
@ThingsSheDoesntKnow: the government can only do so much, although in this case it seems like they could have done a lot more. They were warned numerous times, so yes, they bear at least part of the responsibility.
SW-User
@Laifu1: well, the government does everything to not have their ass blown up right??? They can do as much as they want to.
Abrienda · 26-30, F
Also true if you are going to DEFEND something...so since you are so keen on honesty admit you are a dhimmi or are a Moslem and therefore an apologist...how is that hijab you ordered working out. Fits okay? Don't want to show.
SW-User
@Abrienda: Seriously? You have issues. My Christmas stocking holders get rearranged every year to say Satan. (Humor... I don't believe in him either. ) I raised my daughter as an ATHIEST. I get that you have anger issues, but last time I checked, I wasn't defending Islam. I was pointing out that not all Muslims are terrorists. I see you disagree.
